The Lake Region RC&D works with volunteers to distribute deer meat donated to the Kansas Huntere Feeding the Hungry program to food pantries within the six counties served by the Lake Region RC&D. Over 10,196 meals of ground deer meat were provided to hungry Kansans through the Kansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry (KHFH) Program with assistance from 3 processing facilities and 14 community food banks.

The Lake Region RC&D serves as the grant administrator for the Explore the O.W.L.S. (Outdoor Wildlife Learning Site ) in Paola, KS.  Located near the elementary schools the site is used by teachers and incorporated into lesson plans. 

Explore the OWLS

The Lake Region RC&D collects broken and unwanted bikes, then takes then to the Ellsworth Correction Facility to be refurbished.  The refurbished bikes are adopted by deserving children within the six counties served by the Lake Region RC&D.
